Shadowhunter fans have a lot to celebrate. Yesterday, the news broke that an official release date—August 23, 2013—had been set for the big-screen adaptation of "City of Bones," the first novel in Cassandra Clare's supernatural series. Additionally, Sony's Screen Gems will distribute the movie after passing it on to Constantin Film.
In fact, things are really ramping up on the long-gestating project according to Cassie. The author told Hollywood Crush via email that Francois Seguin, who was nominated for an Emmy for "The Borgias," has been tapped as production designer. Director Harald Zwartis is also busy rounding out his crew.
"This week Harald and the production team are scouting locations, so if you see a guy who looks a little like a Viking, but has energy like a leprechaun, running around Toronto or NYC with a bunch of people in his wake, it may well be Harald!" she said.
With actors Lily Collins and Jamie Campbell Bower in place as leads Clary Fray and Jace Wayland, casting characters like Simon, Magnus, Isabelle and Alec, will be a top priority. One, Cassie sadly couldn't tell us much about.
"I know what everyone wants to know about is casting, but that's staying close to the vest for the moment, though we do have a new casting director and she's on it. I'm excited to see what happens."
Are you stoked that "City of Bones" finally has a release date? Do you have any picks for the remaining characters to be cast? Tell us in the comments and on Twitter!
