A haunted house, a buried mystery, and a very angry ghost make this one unforgettable thriller.

Jade loves the house she's just moved into with her family. She doesn't even mind being the new girl at the high school: It's a fresh start, and there's that one guy with the dreamy blue eyes. . . . But then things begin happening. Strange, otherworldly things. Jade's little brother claims to see a glimmering girl in his room. Jade's jewelry gets moved around, as if by an invisible hand. Kids at school whisper behind her back like they know something she doesn't.

Soon, Jade must face an impossible fact: that her perfect house is haunted. Haunted by a ghost who's seeking not just vengeance, but the truth. The ghost of a girl who ruled Jade's school — until her untimely death last year. It's up to Jade to put the pieces together before her own life is at stake. As Jade investigates the mystery, she discovers that her new friends in town have more than a few deep, dark secrets. But is one of them a murderer?

My Review:

When I was send The Dead and Buried By Kim Harrington for review from Scholastic Canada let me tell you how excited I was to read and review it after reading the synopsis it so reminded me of one of my most favorite books Anna Dressed In Blood by Kendare Blake so in that moment you so know I was gonna be glued to this book!!! In the book we meet Jade a teenage girl who has had her share of heartache her mother died of cancer not long ago and her father has remarried the nurse Maria who use to tend to her mother when she was sick. Which has been hard on Jade since her and Maria have shared many differences the only good thing Jade has benefited from this marriage is a new little brother named Colby, who she loves more than anything in this world. So when the family moves into this huge new amazing house that seems to good to be true it just might be?? Colby, starts to tell Jade that the Glimmering girl he sees in his room wont leave. Jade believes her little brother cause ever since they have moved in Jade has felt something eerie about the house and has experienced some strange occurrences of her own. It doesn't stop there when she starts her new school she has noticed that people whisper about her and the house. But she has no clue why ?? Then she befriends Alexa the non popular outcast in school who finally tells her what everyone is whispering about.Jade finds out that the most popular girl in school Kayla use to live in her house and one tragic day she fell down the stairs and died. But it wasn't a fall the town is talking about its how they're saying that it was Kayla boyfriend Donovan who pushed her down the stairs when she died since he was the last person to see her alive. Now Jade knows the real reason her family can afford this big beautiful house. As the story progresses Jade now finally believes her house is haunted and Kayla the ghost isn't as friendly as Jade would like Kayla the ghost to be, Kayla the ghost is set on revenge! Kayla the ghost didn't see who pushed her but whomever but Kayla the ghost wants them to pay! So she gives Jade an ultimatum either you help find my killer or sweet Colby will know my wrath forever! So Jade has no other choice but to do what Kayla says.
My Final Thoughts: The Dead and Buried was a good read I gave it a 3.5 outta 5 there was lots of twist and turns that kept you engrossed everyone in the book had a motive to kill Kayla . But I just found toward the end the book it seemed a little rushed I guessed the killer half way through even when Jade got it wrong. But don't let my little remark teed you away from reading this book it really is a good book. So now go pick up a copy and let me know what you think!!!
