 This weeks question:

Do you mind books with similar ideas to other books? Similar concepts, backgrounds, retellings or pulled-to-publish fanfic?

I personally don't mind if a book has similar concepts it sometimes can help you adapt to a books story line when reading or selecting a book. Don't get me wrong if the book turns out to be too similar  to another (exp: names are the only thing changed) then I would have an issue ,I personally have fallen in love with Dystopian novels recently and have found a few similar to The Hunger Games but all have had that twist to make it their own. I have enjoyed some even a bit more than The Hunger Games  I find it all depends on how the writer writes and how characters are portrayed.

  1. I agree. So long as the stories don't overlap in every aspect, then I don't muind some similarities.

  2. I agree! I don't mind it either, as long as it's inspiration it's cool, if it gets to literal copying then maybe not so cool. ;)

  3. Hi!
I agree, there can be a general similar concept but the author has to take that and make it completely their own.

    1. I agree 100% similarities are awesome but its when authors make it their own is when I really appreciate it more =)

  4. Hopping through. It does irritate me that all authors are going down the dystopian route lately with books. But then I just read Divergent and loved it.

  5. With so many dystopians to choose from nowadays, books in that genre have to work really hard at distinguishing themselves. I've read some really excellent ones, but I've also read a few that were almost identical in concept and plot. It just seemed like the names and places had been changed.

  6. I like your answer! There are so many different ways to tell a story that you can find you end up like a similar book more than the original. New follower =) My Friday Hop
